Ayming is an international management consulting firm that originated in France in 1986. It was founded as ALMA Intervention in Asnières, focusing initially on business and local tax expertise, later expanding into social contribution auditing. 

By December 1986, the company had grown to 30 employees. In 1991, it received accreditation from the OPQCM (Professional Qualification Office for Business Consulting). In 1996, ALMA was recognised as one of the "Companies of the Decade" by Bain & Company and L'Expansion for its consistent growth through recurring business. In 1997, ALMA obtained ISO 9001 certification for all its activities, and its first international offices were established.

In 1998, ALMA was acquired by Novexel, a company specialising in bonuses, aid, and subsidy engineering. This acquisition was followed by the purchase of IP Stratégies, a Brussels-based company focused on growth projects and strategies. The Spanish subsidiary was also opened in 1998. In 1999, ALMA acquired AP Group, which included AP Consultants, operating in social cost savings, and F. Initiatives, based in Nogent, which conducted tax credit-specific audits.

In 2000, ALMA Intervention rebranded as Alma Consulting Group and received a new ISO 9001 certification. The company expanded further with acquisitions such as SAD and Thermotique in 2004, and Axio Pologne, C.F.C. Experts, and Cristal Décisions in 2005. In 2006, additional acquisitions included IRH (Acciline: AT tracking), Andéléa (Prevention), Winter Associés (Planning), Cegape, and Saving Point (Operating Costs). The company also launched the first Barometer for Absenteeism and Commitment in France and opened offices in the UK and Canada in 2007.

In 2008, Alma Consulting Group acquired PCMG (telecoms and energy), Sté Alturia (insurance consulting services), and Pinchevsky, a company specialising in obtaining tax credits for research. The Parisian offices were relocated to France’s first High Environmental Quality building in Gennevilliers. In 2009, the company acquired Sogeder.
 

In 2010, Alma Consulting Group adhered to the United Nations’ Global Compact. By 2012, the group was present in 10 countries and had 15,000 customers. In 2015, Alma Consulting Group acquired LowendalMasaï, expanding its presence in China, Japan, Germany, and Italy. In 2016, the group rebranded as Ayming, reflecting its expanded global presence and diversified services. New offices were established in Slovakia and the USA, and the Business Performance Awards were created.

In 2017, Capital magazine ranked Ayming as one of the best consulting firms. The second edition of the Business Performance Awards was held. In 2018, Ayming launched the Ayming Institute and released its first publication, "Absenteeism: Red Alert." Offices were opened in Ireland and the Netherlands. In 2019, Ayming was again named one of the best consulting firms by Capital magazine, and the third edition of the Business Performance Awards took place.
